Council Bluffs, IA - A five-year-old was taken to UNMC Friday night with a head injury, after an accident at Bayliss Park.
It happened at the "Celebrate CB Community Pride Week" event, where a carnival is set up.
Police say the boy, Trace Harman, was on the Monster Truck ride, where trucks are hitched together and move up and down while circling around a track.
At some point, the truck Harman was in came unhitched from the truck in front of it, and the boy hit his head. The five year old ended up hanging halfway out of the truck, but police don't know if the jerk of the accident caused him to get loose, or if he was trying to climb out. The seatbelt kept him from falling out completely.
At this point, crews stopped the ride and tended to the boy. Witnesses say it was scary because there was a large amount of blood at the scene. Medics took the boy to UNMC, where the Harman received stitches. He's expected to be released from the hospital later tonight.
