Washington, D.C. - Seven-year-old Jack Hoffman's story caused tears on Capitol Hill today. The U.S. Senate designated September 26, 2013 as National Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness day.
Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer shared Jack's story: from his diagnosis and his battle with cancer to his inspiring touchdown run earlier this month at the Huskers Red-White game.
Senator Fischer choked up while talking about Jack who she calls her friend. "It didn't take a touchdown though to make Jack a hero," Fischer said, "he smiles through the pain. His courage, his resilience represent the best of the human spirit and the very best of our nation"
Jack's parents thanked Senator Fischer and her colleagues for bringing national attention to pediatric brain cancer. Nearly 3000 families will learn this year their child has the terrible disease.
