Omaha, NE - Neighbors were on edge as police and SWAT officers surrounded a home at 56th and Sprague this morning.
The Metro Area Fugitive Task Force went to the home to arrest Frederick Patterson on a parole violation around 6:00 this morning. Patterson barricaded himself in the home with his brother.
Around 10:40 am, police fired tear gas into the home.
Jo Newton lives nearby, described the tense situation, " I didn't hear anything going on out here, my son's friend came through door and said 'are you alright?' I said, 'what's going on?' He said, 'there are cops everywhere, they've got the whole neighborhood blocked off.'"
Around 11 am, Patterson's brother and Patterson came out of the house separately. Police say Patterson's brother was not held against his will. They booked Patterson for a parole violation and for warrants out of Sarpy and Douglas Counties.
