First Ever "Omaha Gives!" Set For May 22
Omaha, NE - The city's first-ever 24-hour charitable challenge, "Omaha Gives!" event is set for next month. The Omaha Community Foundation made the announcement Tuesday morning.
On Wednesday, May 22, from midnight to midnight, donors can give to their most-loved area non-profits online. The minimum donation is $10. There is no maximum amount.
Then, to sweeten the deal, all area non-profits will be eligible to receive matching funds and prize money raised by the Omaha Community Foundation.
More than 300 non-profits in Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties have signed up to participate.
Here's how you can rally support for Omaha Gives! 24-hour charitable challenge:
As a donor:
-Give on May 22 to support your favorite non-profit.
-Plan an Omaha Gives! event for May 22 - a happy hour, lunch, group bike, and so on - to get people excited and aware of the give day.
-Share Omaha Gives! news and support on your social media network by tagging Omaha Community Foundation and using the hashtag #OmahaGives24
As a business:
-Consider donating to the matching money pool or sponsor a prize award. · Partner with a local participating nonprofit to host an Omaha Gives! event.
-Promote Omaha Gives! via newsletters, social media channels and more.
-Encourage your employees to participate in Omaha Gives! and offer a "giving break time" for those that make donations.
-On May 22, host an event for employees with computer donation stations set-up for immediate access.
