Soccer Mom Accused of Stealing Money from Sports Club
Omaha, NE - While the Phoenix Futbol Club took to the field for a little evening practice soccer moms watched from the sidelines.
Only hours earlier shocking news came from the club.
Michelle Williamson is a soccer mom herself. Police suspect she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from the club.
The mother of five from Bellevue had been actively involved with Phoenix Futbol and had responsibilities within the club.
That's according to her attorney Don Schense.
Schense tells Action 3 News she had her family are distraught and the news has hit them hard.
The Phoenix Futbol Club posted this letter on its website, saying they've determined that more than $150,000 in club funds were misappropriated and they've learned criminal charges will be filed against a former board member.
Action 3 met board president Eric Syphers at the practice field. He didn't want to go on camera but made this statement...
"This is a great program, we are moving on from this. We have great players, parents and coaches and we will finish out the season."
Soccer moms on the sidelines didn't want to comment either.
Williamson turned herself in Wednesday morning. She will spend the night in the Sarpy County Jail.
Williamson's attorney says she will plead not guilty. She's been booked for a felony, theft of over $1,500.
A judge has not yet set bond. She could be charged as early as Thursday.
