Central High Principal to Retire at Close of School Year
CREATED Apr. 2, 2013
Omaha, NE - Longtime educator Dr. Keith Bigsby has announced he will retire at the end of the 2012-2013 school year.
Bigsby started his career with the Omaha Public Schools as a marketing teacher at South High School in 1982.
The last three years, he served as principal at Central High School.
"To leave Central was a tremendously difficult decision for me," said Bigsby. "I love this place and I love the people in this place. Central has played a very important role in my life and my family's life. Two of my three daughters attended and graduated from Central and my youngest will be a senior at Central this upcoming year. With all of the changes coming to OPS, I felt this was the right thing to do for myself and the district-time to move on and give someone else a chance. I am very proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of best urban district in the country and have the chance to lead the finest downtown high school in the country."
Bigsby says he looks forward to having more time for deferred chores and other interests, including painting the house, watching his daughters play collegiate soccer and doing some consulting work.
