CREATED Mar. 29, 2013

Papillion, NE - A couple's recreational vehicle exploded Friday afternoon in Papillion.  Some by-standers saved a woman who was trapped inside.

It happened on Highway 370 near the Shadow LAke Towne Center.  Several people saw what was going on and sprang into action, pulling the woman from the side window.  Her husband helped in the rescue.

"The one by-stander I talked to said she was stuck in the window with flames coming out," said Papillion Fire Chief Bill Bowes.  "They did a terrific job. They put themselves in a lot of danger."

Chief Bowes says the couple was driving the RV to a place for storage when gas started leaking, causing the explosion.  Medics airlifted the woman to Nebraska Medical Center. Her condition is not known.
