Ice Cream Man Robbed in Southeast Omaha
Omaha, NE - Police say the driver of an ice cream truck was robbed Thursday night in southeast Omaha.
Derek Dodenhof told police he was driving his "Frosty Treats" ice cream truck in the area of 41st and T when a young Hispanic man, possibly in his 20s, flagged him down and asked for change. Dodenhof says he pulled over, and the suspect stole a small amount of money from him. The robber then ran down an alley way.
The crime scene is 2.3 miles from where another ice cream man was gunned down over the summer. On August 23rd, Gilberto Hernandez-Vazquez was pushing his ice cream cart near 19th and Y when someone shot and killed him. Police have never made an arrest in his murder.
As of Thursday night, police had not arrested the person responsible for the robbery.
