Douglas County Board To Vote On Health Center Management
Omaha, NE - The Douglas County Board is set to vote today on whether or not to accept bids to outsource management at the Douglas County Health Center.
Early on in the meeting, the board voted against closing or selling the facility. The center will stay open but the decision has not been made who will manage the health center.
It's all in an effort to reduce costs at the facility. The decision will affect more than 500 county jobs and 2,000 patients at the facility near 42nd & Center.
Douglas County clerk Tom Cavanaugh sent out a letter blasting the possible privatization of the health center, saying employees have been under trained, overwhelmed, and incapable of providing the minimum level of services needed by the state of Nebraska.
