Creighton's Doug McDermott Named Naismith Finalist
Omaha, NE - Creighton's star forward Doug McDermott is among the top four players in college basketball.
The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced the four finalists for the 2013 Naismith Men's College Player of the Year. The finalists are Michigan sophomore Trey Burke, Creighton junior Doug McDermott, Indiana junior Victor Oladipo and Georgetown sophomore Otto Porter, Jr.
McDermott was a finalist for the 2012 honor as well.
The Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors looked at individual performances through the 2013 men's college basketball regular season when deciding the finalists.
The winner will be revealed on April 7th in Atlanta.

According to the NCAA's site. The award is named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, founder of the game of basketball. The first award went to UCLA's Lew Alcindor in 1969. Alcindor was later known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
