Omaha, NE -- On Friday, the March Madness excitement took over Omaha for the Creighton basketball game.
From Creighton's campus to downtown bars, the city was painted in white and blue as the Jays took on the Cincinnati Bearcats in Philadelphia.
"You have the Iowa fans and the Nebraska fans, and they hate each other, but everyone comes together for Creighton," said fan Holly Jacobsen. "It's great."
While the fans who packed into DJ's Dugout in downtown Omaha saw the Jays run into some trouble early on, fans like Steve Zupfer said things started to change as halftime approached.
"We will be back in the second half," said Zupfer. "(We won't have) anymore turnovers, and we are going to win this thing."
The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the clock counted back to zero..
When the final buzzer went off, Creighton came out on top. Hundreds of excited fans left DJ's to get ready for the next game.
"I've lost my voice," said fan Sean Guilfoyle. "I can't tell you what I think. It's awesome. How many opportunities do we get to see Creighton play Duke? It's going to be an unbelievable matchup."
In the next round of the tournament, Creighton will play the Blue Devils. The game is set for Sunday.
