Two People Shot, Flag Down Police at Subway

CREATED Mar. 5, 2013 - UPDATED: Mar. 5, 2013

Omaha, NE - Omaha Police confirm two men were in an SUV when someone shot them near 45th and Bedford Tuesday afternoon. Officer James Shade with Omaha police says police believe the men were shot at from someone in another car.

"{I} heard 4 or 5 shots," Nathaniel Bailey, who lives in the neighborhood said. He was at a convenience store inside when the shooting happened.

Police identified the injured men as 21- year-old Marvin Monroe and 25- year-old Vaughan Byars were trying to drive themselves to the Nebraska Medical Center when they saw an officer in the parking lot of the Subway just north of California St. and North Saddle Creek Road.

"When they saw the officers they flagged down the officers and pulled into this parking lot here. So it had nothing to do with the subway they just found the officers and pulled into here," Shade said.

They told the officer what happened and the officer called for more help.

Police didn't know how many people were in the suspect's car. They also don't have any descriptions and haven't made any arrests.
