Omaha, NE - Omaha, NE - We are learning more about the criminal past of a previous owner of Little Lambs daycare. It's the place where a 4-year-old girl was left on a van, for five hours this week. Sheryl Godsey currently runs this day care. Her husband, Dan, used to run it until 2010 when he was convicted of child negligence, in an incident similar to the one in February.
Dan managed Little Lambs for years until he pleaded guilty in a child endangerment case where he left a two year old unattended in a bus for hours. We also learned, Dan Godsey has a felony drug conviction from the late 80's. State law says drug felons can't work at daycares. We asked the Department of Human services if Godsey should have been running a daycare with his criminal past, they told us, because of his most recent conviction, he is not allowed on the daycare property during hours when children are present.
The 2010 case is still pending, his wife did not want to comment on the details of that incident. She did say about the most recent situation that everyone makes mistakes. "It's like it was a nightmare and your going to wake up and realize it didn't happen," Godsey still can't believe that the system she put in place after the last incident failed.
Omaha police and Child Protective Services are still investigating the latest case. Police would not say whether charges are pending.
