Bellevue, NE - It's hard for neighbors living in the Green Acres Mobile Home Court to look across the street.
"It's hard to sleep. Just thinking about what kind of woman she was, how nice she was and what a terrible thing that happened to her."
Close friends to the Nielsen's didn't want their faces shown on camera. They miss their friend Sandy and her young grandson Devin.
"He was a cute little blonde haired boy, just adorable. So happy, always smiling."
"She was great, she was funny. She was a funny, outgoing lady. Always smiling, making jokes. Things like that."
Friends say Sandy used to work at Krispy Kreme and would bring them donuts after work.
The fire broke out Saturday. Neighbors think a space heater is to blame. Sandy and Devin, trapped inside. Sandy had a medical condition. She could barely walk.
"I was hoping since I saw the older boy that everyone else made it out, but, it was pretty fast."
Devin, a second grader at Betz Elementary in Bellevue, always played with the kids around the neighborhood.
"Devon used to play with my grandson James."
These friends are sad to see something bad happen to good people. They say all they can do now is pray and hope the community will stand behind them.
The State Fire Marshal says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. It could be a few days before anything is released.
An account has been set up for Devin Nielsen and his family at Great Western Bank, to help the Nielsen's get back on their feet.
