An Omaha man, allegedly striking fear in the eyes of convenience store employees, is behind bars. 30-year-old Christopher Dancer has been arrested, and is connected to at least 18 armed robberies in the last 4 months. Dancer turned himself into authorities this week wanted for 2 counts of robbery. An arrest warrant was issued for him on February 14th.
Investigators believe Dancer targeted Tobacco and Phones 4 Less, Mega Saver, Tobacco and Liquor Outlet locations as well as a Tobacco Hut, Midtown Gas and Grocery, Kum & Go, and Dollar General. Artun Gokcen has been robbed twice recently while working at the Tobacco and Liquor Outlet near 108th & Maple Rd.
"I'm pretty happy that he got caught. Got basically what he deserved,” Gokcen explained. "This guy came back wearing the same exact clothes, the same exact trench coat. The second time I really tried to pay attention to his face so I would recognize him, and that's him."
A search warrant indicates a Crimestoppers tip said that a person would case a business to see how many employees were working, and how much money was in the register. Then they'd call Dancer to rob the place. Tobacco and Phones 4 Less on the corner of California St. & Saddle Creek Rd. was allegedly hit 3 times by Dancer.
"We're just glad that he was picked up and we hope we don't have any more robberies,” said Tobacco and Phones 4 Less employee Melissa Stolinski. "It's very suspicious and it makes you wonder about whoever walks through that door if 30 minutes later that somebody else is going to come through and try to take everything from us."
So far, dancer is being charged with two counts of Felony Robbery, but more charges could be pending. Friday, a judge ordered Dancer to be held on $300,000 bond.
