Omaha, NE - It was the first gun amnesty day in Omaha for 2013. A chance for people to drop of their weapons, no questions asked. Officer James Shade says, "It does appear to be effective. People in the community seem to need an avenue where they can turn in illegal or firearms to be disposed of."
The Eagle's Nest Worship Center opened its doors to the community Saturday. About 25 handguns, a number of rifles and buckets of ammunition were handed over. The church pastor is happy his congregation could play a role in making a safe community. Pastor James Hart says, "To make the community safer, our kids safer and ultimately our police officers safer too."
