City of Bellevue Announces Finalists for Top Cop
Bellevue, NE - Bellevue today announced three finalists in it's efforts to find Bellevue's top Cop.
According to a release sent to the Action 3 Newsroom, the Office of City Administrator, Dan Berlowitz, will conduct the final interviews of the top candidates; Timothy Carmody, Police Chief in City of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mark Elbert who currently is acting Chief of the Bellevue Police Department, and Mark Sundermeier, who is the Director of Operations at Clark International, a security and training firm, located in Omaha.
Carmody has twenty-two years past experience with the Omaha Police Department before before retiring from the Omaha Police Department in 2010, then joining the Fort Dodge City Police Department.
Elbert, who is now Bellevue's acting police chief, is also in the run for the top job and has been with the department since 1996, achieved the rank of captain before being named interim chief while the city started its search for the permanent position. Elbert also holds a Master's Degree in leadership and studies and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Sundermierer, who is the current Director of operations with Clark International, an executive protection, security and training firm , previously served 25 years with the Omaha Police Department, reaching the rank of Deputy Chief before retiring in 2009.
All the candidates were trained at the FBI National Academy.
