Sheriff's Lieutenant Charged with DUI
The police report clearly points out what went wrong for 46-year old Richard Lally. Early Saturday morning UNO security spotted the lieutenant swerving on University Drive, at some points driving on the wrong side of the road. The sheriff's office tells KMTV Action 3 News, Lally was driving a county issued Chevy TrailBlazer.
Campus security called Omaha Police to assist. They pulled over Lally and conducted several field sobriety tests. Police say they could smell alcohol on him. According to the police report, Lally blew a .185, nearly two times the legal limit. The county's chief deputy says Lally has had a good career with the department. However, Monday afternoon, he was reassigned to an administrative position until the investigation is done.
