Jumping Towards Healthy Habits
Omaha NE- A city-wide health initiative begins with one schools jump to healthy habits.
Each student and teacher at Fontenelle Elementary School received a jump rope and was asked to exercise every day, part of a new program designed by Kohl's department stores and Children's Hospital and Medical Center. Healthy Kohl's Kids is a program aimed at getting all of Omaha's children active and in shape.
A study by Children's Hospital, shows three of every ten students are overweight and obesity is the number one health issue facing children in Omaha. The program urges families to exercise together and track their success.
Getting healthy takes more than exercise, eating nutritious foods is just as important. Kohl's knows the goal is large but hopes that all of Omaha will participate. The department store donated a check of more than $191,000 to Children's Hospital. To learn more about how to get fit, visit www.healthykohlskids.com.
