More Armed Robberies; More Arrests

By Jake Wasikowski. CREATED Nov 12, 2012

Another batch of armed robberies over the weekend, but police have made a quick arrest.

On Saturday and Sunday, seven armed robberies took place at gas stations.  Within the last six months, Crimemapping.com shows there have been 200-300 business and residential armed robberies and attempted armed robberies with weapons involved in Omaha alone.  Around 25 places have been hit more than once.

Since the start of this month, police have arrested at least a dozen people for armed robberies or attempted armed robberies.

Deon Stewart was arrested for robbing a Check Into Cash on 79th & Dodge, and the Midtown Gas & Grocery on Park Avenue.  The Midtown Gas & Grocery on 24th & Poppleton was robbed on Saturday.  The manager is happy someone was arrested for holding up their other store that’s been hit twice in a week.

"I'm glad to know that they caught somebody who's involved in this type of robberies.  It means the cops are working," said Farhan Siddiqui, the Manager of Midtown Gas & Grocery on 24th St.

Police believe that Stewart was involved in more of the armed robberies in the last week.  Investigators hope to charge him with more of these crimes soon.

If you have any information on any armed robberies contact the Omaha Police Department at 402-444-STOP (7867).
