Local Police Departments to Collect Unwanted Guns
KMTV Action 3 News
The Omaha and Bellevue Police Departments are co-sponsoring a Gun Amnesty Day on Saturday, November 10, 2012.
This initiative is a collaborative community effort to rid our streets of illegal and/or unwanted firearms and ammunition. Unwanted or illegal guns and ammunition can be dropped off at collection points in Omaha and Bellevue. Guns will be accepted at the Firefighter's Union Hall at 60th and Grover Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at Karray's Café, 3512 Samson Way, Bellevue, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no questions asked. Drive-up service will be available.
No compensation will be given for the firearms turned-in. However, citizens dropping off firearms will have the peace of mind that one less gun will be available in our community to those who choose to use it to harm another, or commit a crime.
For additional information, contact OPD Sergeant Stephen Fornoff at (402) 444-4099 or BPD Captain Chuck Clark at (402) 293-3120.
