Travelers Get Comfy at Eppley
Omaha, NE - Hurricane Sandy is causing travel problems in Omaha.
Delays and cancellations have force travelers to and from the city to make other plans. All direct flights from Omaha to the east coast have been cancelled, there are also delays from Eppley to Minneapolis and Chicago.
Travelers are getting unwillingly comfortable at Eppley Airfield because they have nowhere else to go. Some pull out a book, some sleep, others share their frustration.
''It's unreal. Over in New York, it's crazy," says Samantha Bormuth. She planned to leave Omaha for Cleveland Monday morning.
Bormuth checked her flight schedule before she left the hotel. Everything was on time.
Bormuth returned her room key and rental car only to find herself stranded at the airport, "I came here and they hadn't updated the website yet. They said it was cancelled when I got to Eppley. Otherwise I would have stayed in my hotel and not checked out, but all the websites still say my flight is on time."
As of Monday afternoon, more than 10,000 flights across the country have been cancelled.
