U.S. Senator Mike Johanns: Bob Kerrey Needs To "Apologize"
Omaha, NE -- Big names in the political world flew into Omaha on Thursday to stomp for Nebraska candidates. Speaking with U.S. Senate hopeful Deb Fisher, current U.S. Senator Mike Johanns urged Bob Kerrey to finish the race with dignity & apologize for all those negative attack ads against Fisher.
With just 12 days until the election, Republican candidate Deb Fisher said she's had enough of Bob Kerrey's lies. Senator Johanns called his negative campaigning "disappointing". He added, "I think Bob Kerrey reached the conclusion that the only way he could win was to win really ugly."
Kerrey's campaign claims the Fisher Family tried to take their neighbors land and took them to court. Then as state senator, Fisher introduced legislation that would keep that land from being sold to the state and used by the public.
Fischer said the bill was about water. She explained, "was about finding more revenue for water, water studies in this state and if you read the committee transcripts, if you read the floor debate and transcripts, the focus of this bill is the Platte River Recovery Implication Program."
KMTV Action 3 News asked, if voters asking about his attacks? U.S. Senate candidate responded, "You know, I don't hear from many people. The ones that I've heard from the last week as we traveled the state, every stop were at, it's usually someone who's gone through the same experience and having to go to court to settle a boundary dispute."
Fisher said she will keep campaigning on her issues, vowing not to get caught-up in the negative attack ads. The Fischer campaign will hit the road for a final push to get more votes before Election Tuesday.
