MAXWELL, NE - Deputies in western Nebraska believe icy conditions contributed to a two-vehicle crash that killed three people. Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer says the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning on U.S. Highway 30 near Maxwell. Maxwell is about 4 hours southwest of Omaha. Kramer says two students were on their way to school when the 14-year-old driver, who was driving legally on a school permit, lost control and crashed into another car. The 14-year-old driver and his 10-year-old passenger died.  The passenger in the other car also died. Paramedics took the driver of the second car to the hospital in critical condition.
