Local Casinos go Pink for a Good Cause
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
KMTV Action 3 News is a sponsor of the Komen Race for a Cure this Sunday. It's a way that we support cancer research, treatment and families facing this battle.
Harrah's and Horseshoe Casinos in Council Bluffs are going pink all month.
The Black Jack tables, pink instead of green.
Casino employee Kelly Rhoten is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed at age 35.
After aggressive chemo-therapy treatment, the single mom has dealt with a tough road to recovery.
"I am stronger than I have been since my illness. I've beat it I have complete control of everything that's going on with my health and with my life and it feels wonderful", says Rhoten.
The Casinos will have activities this month to educate employees and customers about cancer prevention.
"As you saw with kelly you know it's someone right near and dear to our hearts that it impacted and so it's great to be able to give back to people who've been through so much", says VP of Marketing Katie Manganaro.
The Komen Race is Sunday at the Century Link Center.
Our own anchors Craig & Jen will be there to help start the race at 8:15.
