Omaha, NE – City Council will vote Tuesday on a law that would give gays, lesbians and the transgender more protection.
The ordinance would make it illegal for companies to discriminate against people because of their sexual orientation.
Council Member Ben Gray came up with the proposal.
A similar measure was considered back in 2010 but it was not approved because Council Member Franklin Thompson abstained from voting. They had a tied vote 3-3.
The players have not changed since then.
Council Members Gray, Festersen and Jerram voted “Yes.”
Council Members Gernandt, Mulligan and Stothert voted “No.”
This time Council Member Thompson says he’ll be voting. He won’t tell us if he’s a “Yes” or a “No.”
