Omaha, NE – An explosion blows apart a home on 37th & G around 6:00 a.m. Friday. This is a second house that’s exploded within a few days.
Leo Stillmock woke up to a loud deafening noise.
"It sounds like two trains slamming together. It was real loud boom,” says Stillmock. That boom was an empty home exploding followed by flames burning.
Tammy Headley lives next door to the vacant home.
"When I looked out, there was a big fireball coming out from underneath the house,” says Headley.
Firefighters say the blast blew out the sides of the house and knocked it off its foundation.
"I got up I went outside and looked, I see this smoke rolling across the street,” says Stillmock.
Firefighters pounded on Headley’s front door to warn her.
"I was freaking out that's why I asked the firefighters do I need to get my kids out of the house. It was scary but he said as long as I didn't smell gas he thought we were okay,” says Headley.
Crews found a leaking natural gas line underneath a porch that led to the home.
Firefighters say that a natural gas leak is the cause of the blast.
There were no reports of any injuries.
