Prayer Group Calls for Peace after Omaha Murder
Omaha, NE - No new clues or arrests in the grisly murder of Darrell Taylor.
Witnesses recount a relentless gunman firing, reloading, and firing more bullets as Taylor tried to run
And hide from him at 114th and Elm.
While family and friends cry for justice others call for peace.
At the corner of 114th and Elm in Omaha they hold hands and bow their heads.
First responders stand at the spot 37 year old Darrell Taylor lost his life.
“To heal those who are mourning and also to bring peace,” said Femi Awodele.
Peace to a life which ended tragically.
Darrell Taylor was gunned down Christmas night. Witnesses say a gunman kept firing until Taylor was dead.
"Any act of violence should resonate with everybody, and every citizen of Omaha to stand up to fight against it,” said Omaha Police Captain Greg Gonzalez.
With the blood still covering the ground first responders walk to heal the area, with a call to action against the violence.
"That the bad guys would be caught.”
Darrell Taylor or bear as he was known by friends was a father, and friends paid tribute to him saying, “Bear was my neighbor and he came to comfort me when my son died.” He was a good neighbor and friend, rest in peace.”
Friends and family are grieving and looking for answers in a heinous crime.
This is Omaha’s 37th murder of the year, and tonight police are still looking for the gunman.
