Omaha - The Metro Fugitive Task Force is a unit of 25 specially trained police officers in the Omaha area.
It's their job to go through felony arrest warrants from the courts and local police departments, pinpoint the really bad guys who are living among us, and go get them. U-S Marshall Jaime Galindo runs the task force. He invited us to take action and go along to see how they do their job.
In a seven hour span, we went along as the Task Force searched for a suspected gunman at 25th and Fort, a wanted fugitive from New York believed staying on North 63rd, a woman wanted on drug charges on Huntington Street and a guy with a warrant out for his arrest on felony drug charges in South Omaha. Our camera rolled as the Task Force, guns drawn and body armor on, took three of those people into custody and confiscated a loaded 9mm handgun.
Galindo noted, "We never know what to expect every day but this is a preview of what we do each and every day. The Metro Fugitive Task Force has made roughly 3000 arrests in the last two years.
