Council Bluffs, IA - A late night crash in Council Bluffs Saturday kills two teenage girls. The two-car crash happened along Old Lincoln Highway just north of the city.
Police say the Mitsubishi the girls were riding in over-corrected and smashed into an airport shuttle. Elizabeth Chadwick, 19 of Crescent, and Jessica Weinfurtner, 18 of Council Bluffs, were pronounced dead on scene.
Friends say they are in shock and disbelief. They described Elizabeth as a fun loving girl with a smile that could light up the room.
"She was just a really wonderful girl and she didn't deserve this," said friend Catherine Wellman. "Neither her or Jess deserve this and they will be missed a lot."
Two people in the shuttle were taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to officials with the Council Bluffs Community School District, Chadwick went Thomas Jefferson High School and Weinfurtner went to Abraham Lincoln High School.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The Pottawattamie County Sheriff says officers did find alcohol in the vehicle, but says it'll be a few weeks before toxicology reports come back on whether or not the girls had been drinking.
