Patricia Arquette will star in CBS’ planned spinoff of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

The Hollywood Reporter breaks news that the star of “Medium” and “Boardwalk Empire,” will lead the cast for the spinoff, scheduled to debut as a pilot in the spring.

“Arquette will star as Avery Ryan, the special agent in charge at the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI in Quantico, Va., who is tasked with solving high-octane crimes that start in the mind, live online and play out in the real world,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, which says the show “centers on how technology has amplified human behavior to the point where faceless criminals are committing crimes at global proportions with a touch of a button.”

The actress earned an Emmy Award during her seven season run as the star of NBC’s “Medium.” More recently, she’s had a multi-episode arc on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” playing a love interest for star Steve Buscemi’s character, Nucky.

“Her credits include a 2012 episode of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ as well as features ‘Holes’ and ‘Little Nicky’ and the upcoming Martin Scorsese feature ‘The Wannabe,’” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
