COACHELLA - The Varsity Cheerleading Squad from Coachella Valley High School was invited to perform at next year's halftime show for the Pro-Bowl. It's the first time they were selected for this performance, so they could soon be making history.
All 47 girls and their advisor, Melissa Cosme, have been fundraising for the big trip in Hawaii. Saturday afternoon, they held their second car wash at the AMPM on the corner of Grapefruit Boulevard and Avenue 48. They're trying to raise about $2,000 each to cover the expenses.
"We just had a candle fundraiser. We're going to be selling snacks in school, so we're trying to hustle as much as we can to get everybody or at least half of them out there," said Cosme.
She added that they still need a lot of money to cover the expenses. If you would like to help, you can log on to giveforward.com and type in "CVHS Cheer".
Here's a brief description from giveforward.com about how the girls were invited to perform:
"Coachella Valley High School Cheer recently attended a 4 day cheer camp at UCI, where they did EXTREMELY well! This was the first year attending a camp away from home and the team wanted to blow it out of the water! Long hours of sweating, conditioning, and of "one more time" and " if it's perfect we are done," hours of encouraging and picking each other up..... all of this for that moment; the moment in which a team was born. Because the team received a superior rating the first night, they were invited to perform halftime at the pro bowl in Hawaii!"
