Coachella Valley Remembers 9-11
PALM SPRINGS - The 9/11 terrorist attacks are being commemorated today in the Coachella Valley in various ways, including a concert and a service at a Palm Springs church that lost a parishioner who was aboard one of the jets that crashed into the World Trade Center towers.
The annual September Concert at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert gets underway at 7pm. Organized by the Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation, it was moved inside this year from the amphitheater at Palm Desert's Civic Center Park.
A candlelight vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. at La Quinta Civic Center, 78-495 Calle Tampico, featuring speeches by local dignitaries, music and a piece of steel from the World Trade Center.
