CATHEDRAL CITY - The Filipino Community says it's cultural; They take care of their own. Now they're asking everyone to help with that mission.
A coalition of Filipino groups, in partnership with KMIR & KPSE, Mix 100.5, and Mercy Corps held a fundraising drive for those left devastated by the typhoon.
KMIR's Manny the Movie Guy and Elizabeth Beaubien spent the afternoon at the House of Silog Restaurant in Cathedral City as a coalition of filipino groups and the Mercy Corps collected cash and goods.
A high point was when the the Spotlight 29 casino and 29 Palm Band of Mission Indians each donated $2,500 for a total of $5,000.
If you couldn't donate...you still can. Just visit www.mercycorps.org\palmsprings and you can make a donation in any amount online and the money will go directly to Mercy Corps and the people of the Philippines.
KMIR and KPSE were honored to lend our support to this worthy cause. It's just one more way KMIR is working with the community to Make the Coachella Valley a Better Place to Live.
