Woman Arrested with 8.5 Pounds of Methamphetamine
SALTON CITY - Over eight pounds of meth are off the streets after a suspected narcotics smuggler was stopped at the Highway 86 checkpoint.
Over the weekend, United States Border Patrol agents stopped a 22-year old woman driving a Chrysler Cirrus. A canine dog team was quickly alerted to the vehicle. Inside agents found 16 packages of the drug hidden under the backseat.
The meth had an estimated street value of $272,000. The woman and the drugs were turned over to the DEA.
