The 8-week-old child died at Loma Linda Hospital Wednesday.
The mother and her boyfriend were arrested the same day.
We spoke to a neighbor in Palm Desert who lived next to the mother for years.
Sarah Connor and her boyfriend Joseph Champion are both charged with murder for the death of Sarah's baby girl.
"Shocking and horrible sad thing to find out about," said neighbor Gary Rosenblum.
Gary has known Sarah Connor for years, he told us her nickname is Daisy.
He says her father lives in the house on Pinyon Street.
He never met the boyfriend.
"I'd seen them walking with the baby in a stroller near El Paseo recently," Gary told us.
On Friday, he saw the scene in front of the home.
"There was several police cruisers parked, there was a number of sheriff's forensics unit and there was crime scene tape on the side of the house, but we didn't find out what happened and we didn't know anything about it until now," said Gary.
We rang the doorbell at the house, but no one answered.
It was just after 6:00 Friday morning when police arrived.
"We responded to a baby not breathing call here in the city of Palm Desert, our deputies arrived an summoned for the ambulance immediately," said Corporal Angel Ramos with Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The baby girl was sent to Eisenhower Medical Center and later flown to Loma Linda where she died Wednesday from her injuries, the same day Connor and Champion were arrested.
"Anytime a baby dies it's extremely tragic, and it's just especially sad when the parents are involved in the case," said Corporal Ramos.
Neighbor Gary says he never heard fighting at the home, "It's been a quiet house, extremely quiet, never heard any noises or voices raised or anything like that."
On Facebook we found a profile for a Sarah Connor nicknamed Daisy holding a baby.
She is friends with a Joseph Champion, we also found his profile.
A former Palm Desert classmate showed us a Facebook post by a Sarah Connor that says, "I'm so scared like I don't know what to do or how to think I am going crazy not knowing what's going on with my baby girl.. all I want to do is hold my daughter and cry right now."
Neighbor Gary is in shock over the baby's death and mother's arrest.
"I've seen her grow up, and I've seen her with the baby and it's just a shocking, sudden surprise," said Gary.
We understand that Joseph Champion is on parole, but the Riverside County Sheriff's Department won't tell us why he was in prison.
