PALM SPRINGS - The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is holding its annual Mother's Day celebration with a discounted trip up the mountain plus brunch. It's called Ride n’ Dine. You can basically see the entire Coachella Valley from on top of the mountain and Assistant General Manger for the tram Edward Voysest says coming to the peak of Palm Springs is perfect for Mother's Day. "It’s a wonderful place for the families as they come out. The children get excited when they see raccoons and little squirrels, so it's a great experience for the family,” says Voysest.
He says more than 4,000 people will have come by the end of the day, one of the busiest days for the tramway. While many people planned for the trip, some were just flat out surprised. "My husband surprised me,” says Tanya Snell. She was also their with her 13-month old daughter. Marian Levitt says her son brought the whole family for the surprise. "He just said be ready at 11:30am and it was the most amazing experience. It was a beautiful, really most amazing experience,” says Levitt.
Voysest says visiting the tram is an experience one never forgets. "People come and do a little hiking and see the trails and they get to see the beautiful sights and the mountains,” says Voysest. "I just love the beautiful surroundings and, of course, the cool weather,” says Snell.
Levitt says this will go down as a memory for the books. "To get together like this and have them all be here and in my honor is such a thrill. I would love it anyway but it really means the world,” says Levitt. Folks can continue to ride the tram till 8:30 pm.
