4th Annual Festival of Opera and Art

Palm Desert, CA - The public is invited to attend a free afternoon of music, art and entertainment provided by OperaArts at the 4th Annual Festival of Opera and Art on Sunday, April 14, 2013.
The festival, which takes place at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park, includes pre-show piano entertainment on stage by Gale Enger from 1:00 p.m. 1:50, followed by an Opera Festival from 1:50 to 4:30 p.m.
This years’ Festival “Vive Verdi”, will be dedicated to arias, duets and ensembles from Aida, Macbeth, Rigoletto and Il Trovatore, as a celebration of his 200th birthday, with the other half offering pieces from other Italian composers, all of which will be presented by world-class singers, and a 33-piece orchestra led by Maestro Gualtiero Negrini, and the musical direction of Victoria Kirsch.
The afternoon also features fun for the whole family including face painting, art activities and interactive fun, curated by Karen Riley, of S.C.R.A.P. Gallery & Bill Schinsky, of
Arts Alliance. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and umbrellas to enjoy the day in comfort and ease.
Available for sale will be food from The Café at Shield’s Date Gardens, Big Mama’s Soul Food, Desserts by Jackie & Elise, and E. & E. Pel’s.
OperaArts is a non-profit organization whose goals are to bring quality music, specifically Opera and Operetta to the public at large, accompanied by fine displays of the visual arts. OperaArts was created from the collaborative efforts of a small consortium of community residents and opera aficionados.
