INDIO- Fire fighters rescued dozens of students today from a fake bus crash,
as part of a emergency response drill at the Indio Fair Grounds.
The scenario crash scene took place at the Indio Fair Grounds, and it
was as close to the real thing as possible. Students played injured
victims and fire crews responded as they normally would.
"The first challenge we have is to appropriately categorize the
patient and appropriately treat them and then rapidly transport them
to the appropriate facility...people from a traumatic situation need
to get to the hospital in an hour to give them the optimal
survivability," said Daniel Talbot, Riverside County Fire Battalion Chief.
The drill is preparing emergency response teams for the tens of
thousands of people that will be in the valley for Coachella Fest.
Concert promoter, Golden Voice, will be transporting more than 20,000
people a day by bus.
