LA QUINTA - Chasing celebrities to grab autographs, talking during a player’s backstroke, and not putting your cell phone on silent during the Humana Challenge at PGA West is not proper etiquette on the golf course. Anthony Alvarez shows us how distractions can impact a player’s game and what you can do to keep them focused by following spectator etiquette.
Spectator etiquette is quite simple. Most of it is common sense. If you plan on going to PGA West to watch the pro-am follow these simple rules from the PGA.
1) Be silent and motionless when a player takes his stance and throughout his stroke.
2) Walk, never run.
3) Stay behind the ropes and white lines.
4) Always have your ticket and credentials visible.
5) Cell phones must be set on silent (vibrate).
Contestants are not permitted to sign autographs prior to the completion of their round each day.
No sports memorabilia of any kind is permitted on property during the week.
