DESERT HOT SPRINGS-- A local Sikh temple is remembering the shooting victims in Connecticut, as well as the victims at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin last August.
Dozens turned out in Desert Hot Springs on Thursday, to pay their respects to the lives lost in both shootings. Members of this temple say these tragic shootings supersede religious beliefs.
Desert Hot Springs Mayor Yvonne Parks was also in attendance. The group lit candles as they announced the victims names.
"When we heard about what happened- we were shocked and saddened- and thought we should hold this vigil for them to let them know we're here for them and they're not alone," says Vigil Organizer Amarpreet Deol.
"What happened to the Sikh temple before- it was the same thing- it hits home when it happens to you. So lets hope and pray it doesn't happen enywhere in the world again," says Sukdav Samra.
This was just one of many local observances for the Newton Connecticut Masacre.
