PALM DESERT-- Pet owners have been calling our newsroom, asking us to find out why all the dog parks in Palm Desert are closed.
City officials say all four parks in Palm Desert will be closed until at least November 15th, due to overseeding. Many dog owners say this is an inconvenience, and would prefer if the city could close one park at a time. But we spoke with the city's landscaping manager who says there's a reason the city overseeds all the parks at once.
"We open this park, close the other one, and they all come come down here and are in this park on the new grass and it destroys all the new grass," says Palm Desert Landscape Manager Spencer Knight.
Though each city has it's own rules and regulations, Knight says this is most likely the case in other cities in the valley. So it looks like you'll either have to find another way to socialize your dog until at least November 15th, or just wait it out until the parks reopen.
