More than 5,000 people gathered Tuesday night as former President Bill Clinton endorsed California Congressional candidates at UC-Irvine.
And one of those candidates he was stumping for is Democrat Doctor Raul Ruiz for our local district.
Former President Bill Clinton told the thousands in attendance they need to support President Obama and five Democratic Congressional candidates in Southern California.
Clinton said that would help ensure education, healthcare and economic success in the coming years.
The crowd cheered enthusiastically as President Bill Clinton took the stage; endorsing President Obama, five Democratic California Candidates and even California propositions.
"If you believe cooperation works better than conflict, if you believe that shared prosperity is important I'd vote for prop 30 and I'd vote against prop 32," said Clinton.
Dr. Raul Ruiz took to the podium as well.
"This election is about reviving the idea that with hard work all things are possible in this country," said Dr. Ruiz, candidate for 36th Congressional District.
Dr. Ruiz spoke of his hard work getting a Harvard education.
"I was told in 2007 that I was the first Latino to have three graduate degrees from Harvard University," said Ruiz.
Clinton said, "I met Dr. Raul Ruiz about a year ago when he started his long campaign, when a lot of people thought what a long shot he was, and now most polls say he is ahead."
President Clinton commended Ruiz for his humanitarian work in Haiti, and said as an E-R doctor, Ruiz understands the Affordable Health Care Act.
"He will be the first to tell you this bill cannot possibly be perfect, it will need to be fixed, and worked on, but the worst thing we can do is repeal it, go back to the status quo and create a situation where America is both economically uncompetitive and inhumane in it's health care policy, you need to send this man to Congress," said Clinton.
And the 42nd President of the United States closed with this statement...
"If you want not only to re-elect President Obama but see him in a situation to enact a second term agenda that will create a 21st century American prosperity you have to vote for them and these other members and candidates that are in this audience, will you do it?"
Besides Dr. Ruiz, President Clinton endorsed candidates from Ventura, Long Beach, San Diego and Riverside.
