Congressional Race Heating Up in the Valley
The Congressional race in the valley is closer than ever. New poll numbers show Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack's lead is narrowing.
The poll funded by Democracy for America shows Congresswoman Bono Mack leading by just three points over Dr. Raul Ruiz. It shows that 47 percent of likely voters would chose Bono Mack compared to Ruiz's 44 percent, the narrowest lead yet.
"A lot of people are excited, we have the momentum," said Dr. Raul Ruiz, the Democratic challenger for the 36th district.
Redistricting has narrowed the Republican voter advantage in the valley, leading some analysts to mark down the 36th District from likely Republican to leaning Republican.
"With this election, it doesn't matter if you are a Republican, Democrat, or independent. What matters most is the direction of our country. Over the last four years under this administration unemployment has gone up, gas prices have doubled and families are struggling. The Congresswoman continues to fight for solutions to the challenges we are facing," said Bono Mack's political director Marc Troast.
Both camps are fighting for the sixteen percent of registered voters in the valley with no party preference.
