COD Program Loses Accreditation
PALM DESERT - The college's Director of Community Relations says the nursing program has lost accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
This is a voluntary accreditation and only 30 percent of California schools are accredited by them.
COD applied for accreditation this year but it was not granted. One of the reasons was the faculty and staff needed improvement. COD's Director of Community Relations Revae Reynolds, in an email to KMIR6, said the college has already made corrections in that area.
The school plans to have a meeting with health care providers to seek their advice. No local health care employers require this particular accreditation, but some federal employers do such as Veteran Affairs hospitals.
The nursing program is currently accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
