New Details: Severe Weather Hits The Heart of The Coachella Valley

CATHEDRAL CITY - A severe thunderstorm Thursday afternoon delivered heavy rainfall and flash flooding to the core of the Coachella Valley.

Cathedral City is one of the worst hit areas with flash flooding, according to Cathedral City emergency crews. There are reports of considerable flooding at Tramview Mobile Home Park.

The Eagle Canyon Dam Levee broke, said Allen Howe, Cathedral City Communications Officer. East Palm Canyon from Golf Club Drive to Cathedral Canyon was closed due to flooding. 

Cathedral City Public Works Crews continue to work on the flooding on East Palm Canyon between Golf Club Drive And Cathedral Canyon Drive. Two Street Sweepers from Clean Streets will begin sweeping around 8:30 p.m. It is anticipated that East Palm Canyon will be closed east and westbound until approximately 6 a.m. Friday.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted down Golf Club Drive and westbound traffic is being diverted down Cathedral Canyon Drive.
