Special Tribute Day Planned at Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway
PALM SPRINGS - Elvis fans are slipping on their blue suede shoes and heading to Palm Springs this weekend for ``Elvis Tribute Day'' tours and a concert.
Special events are planned for Saturday August 25 at the Palm Springs estate where the American icon spent his honeymoon. with Priscilla Presley.
Elvis impersonator Chris Luna is scheduled to perform. Presley's hairstylist and longtime friend Larry Gellar will also be on hand and fans can take tours of the Palm Springs estate at 1350 Ladera Circle, now known as the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway.
Elvis leased the estate in 1966, and he and Priscilla Presley spent their honeymoon there in May 1967, according to the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway website. The couple planned to be married at the home, but instead snuck away to Las Vegas on Frank Sinatra's jet, got married then flew back to Palm Springs the same day.
