PALM SPRINGS--The clouds and humidity are a welcome change for some people here in the desert, but is the weather putting a damper on businesses?
It looked like winter, but felt like summer in a swamp. Despite stormy weather, the heat is still blazing, but the soupy air didn't seem to bother most tourists.
"This is like just comfort weather," said Elby Rios, who is visiting from Texas. "I mean, I'm perspiring but it's actually comfort weather for me."
Despite the rain, heat and overall sticky weather across the valley there was no shortage of Marilyn admirers in Palm Springs
It could have been the bottomless champagne, or perhaps some like it hot and want to see Marilyn. Either way, Pinocchio in the Desert is packed.
"We have more people coming to the desert and also to palm springs so I think it's good for everybody," Desiree Gerhardt, owner of Pinocchio in the Desert said.
But the clouds did force some weekenders to be flexible with their plans.
"It's hot and well usually it's drier weather and for it to be humid it's a little out of the ordinary," said tourist Johnny Nuno.
"Also put a little damper on our plans because we were going to go up the tram and with the cloud cover we weren't able to go up there today," said tourist Rosie Murillo.
What was too cloudy for some turned out to be just right for others -- overcast, humid, and very hot.
