16-Year-Old Palm Desert Boy Dies Following Water Polo Practice
PALM DESERT - A 16-year-old Palm Desert High School student died Tuesday while practicing water polo at an Indio high school. According to the Riverside County Coroner, an autopsy was performed Wednesday on the boy, but the results are still pending.
The coroner's office identified the boy as Christian Fernandez Morales, of Palm Desert. Morales was found unconscious in the pool area at Shadow Hills High School around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
He was transported to a hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital.
