More Suspicious Devices Discovered in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS - Police are investigating the discovery of additional suspicious devices, possibly explosive pipe bombs, found near the area of Indian Canyon Drive and San Rafael Drive, according to Palm Springs Police Spokesman Sgt. Mike Kovaleff.
Kovaleff said the devices resemble one that was brought to the Police Department on Wednesday by a citizen who found it near Joyce Drive and Jan Circle. That device was safely detonated by the police.
The area around Indian Canyon Drive and San Rafael Drive is closed off while Police investigate the devices.
Police say the devices were reported just before 8 a.m. Thursday by the same man who brought the explosive device to the police department on Wednesday. Officers responded and found a total of 3 suspicious devices in the dirt.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department Hazardous Device Team is responding to the area, according to Palm Springs Police. Officials urge the public to stay clear of the area near North Indian Canyon Drive and San Rafael.
The three bombs were detonated around 1:30 p.m. and road have since been reopened.
